Fox Searchlight acquires remake rights to THE BENGALI DETECTIVE

PARK CITY, UTAH — Making yet another move here in Park City, Fox Searchlight announced it has acquired worldwide remake rights to Native Voice Films’ feature documentary THE BENGALI DETECTIVE.

Directed by Philip Cox, THE BENGALI DETECTIVE follows private eye Rajesh Ji as he investigates Calcutta’s criminal underbelly. Docu preemed at Sundance on Saturday as part of the fest’s World Cinema documentary competition.

The deal was brokered by Searchlight’s senior veep of business affairs Megan O’Brien, along with Andrew Hurwitz of Schreck Rose Dapello Adams & Hurwitz, LLP on behalf of Native Voice Films.

Richard Gold, creative exec for Searchlight, will oversee the remake’s development.
